Too much bathing will dry your dog's coat out. There are a lot of great conditioners for dogs. I would recommend contacting my buddy Wes Murph at TheStudlyPooch dot com. He is an awesome groomer and knows a lot more about this stuff than I do. Best, Eric

That's funny, I didn't notice that topknot. I'm just feeling sassy because I had to put my 12 year old best friend to sleep this week. I know you meant nothing bad in your earlier post. My point was just that those old Osters are crazy heavy but people like me who were trained years ago can use them with as much skill as with the new lighter ones. Glad I don't have to tho, my eyes are thankful for encased motors!

Young ones are quite hyper. They like to chew on rubbery things, like the soles of shoes and television remote buttons. Be sure to get them some rubber chew toys. They don't smell all that bad, especially if they're de-scented. They are the most entertaining and joyous pets you can own. They are very intelligent. They also become quite attached to their owner.

The color and coat of this dog definately resembles a Pomeranian. Poms were modified in England in the 1800's and bred down from 28lbs. to 4 lbs. I checked out pictures of both the Italian Volpino and the German Spitz and and their coats are slightly shorter and tails longer. I think that the groomer is correct that this is an example of a large Pom. I enjoyed the video and thought it was informative.

The thing that really REALLY bothers me about this commercial is the line, "Your pet knows when it looks good." I abhor it when people refer to pets as "it" instead of he or she. I know it seems like something very little and nit-picky, BUT there are way too many people who think of their dogs as nothing else than property. How we refer to them does make a difference.

guinea pigs need to have there cage cleaned regulery. they need good food & treats. DONT JUST FEED THEM TREATS! they definitly need love. and if your thinking about getting one and might not have enough time to play with him/her all time, get another guineapig for him/her as a friend. they also need fresh water.

piggies are sooo worth the work. i have two rescues. they're like part of the family, and love to talk to anyone that walks by. they are definately hard work, read up on them before looking for one. when i first became interested, i figured they'd be like a hamster. i read up on it before getting them, and they DEFINATELY are not as low maintenance as a hamster or mouse. good luck! :D

just like having a dog or a cat there's always a responsibility with it. It's not that hard work especially if you're an animal lover. If you love your cavy then it's fun. They are cute,sweet and a lovable pets to have.. I really love my cavies :)

it depends on the cat, each one has its own unique hair structure so some may have thick hair and others may have thinner more flyaway... if you are diligent about your grooming and brush properly on a regular basis then you would not need to have this type of pet cut which makes it easier for the owner to maintain... so it depends on the owners diligence as well as the type of hair the cat has...

I sure wish I had seen this long ago. The times I tried grooming my persians, I ended up with bites and scratches. Holding them by the scruff of the neck, I never thought of that. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. Thanks so much. Great info for the future. Although sending them to the groomers is so nice too.

I kind of thought she was being a little bit rough... but notice that the cat didn't howl or growl or even cry out. If she'd have been giving him discomfort or pain, he'd have let her know. Cats aren't submissive like dogs to a pack leader... when they're unhappy, the let you know very defensively! I've brushed and bathed many a'cat! OUCH!
